The island of a million treasures CRETE

There is no other place in the world like Crete. The fifth largest island in the Mediterranean and the largest in Greece offers genuine experiences, from delightful fresh food to endless activities, UNESCO World Heritage sites, sports and leisure, all bound together by the locals’ heartfelt hospitality, which dates back thousands of years. Crete is one of the top destinations globally to experience sunny weather all year round. In these mesmerising landscapes, mountains fall into the sea, while local art and culture enrich your holiday experience.

Cretan hospitality follows the unique characteristics of the Cretan land, whose grand mountains, gorges, important historical sites and abundant local products and wines create its unique, authentic personality.

Hersonissos, where Aldemar Knossos Royal is located, is a famous destination in Crete, known for its perfect location and vibrant nightlife. From here, it is easy to visit the most beautiful parts of the island.

Hersonissos is the milestone of summer holidays in Crete. Situated on the magnificent northern coast of the island, just an easy 20-minute drive from Heraklion Airport and the city of Heraklion, it offers so many opportunities for a perfect holiday that it is hardly matched by any other holiday destination in the Mediterranean.

The capital of wonders

Heraklion is the capital of Crete and its largest and most populous city. It is the island's business centre and one of Greece's most important cities in terms of culture and technology. One of the city's main attractions is the Venetian castle at the old port, which overlooks the town and the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. The historical centre of Heraklion, with shops dating back centuries, dozens of little traditional 'meze' places and coffee shops, and some of the most commercial streets in Crete, is definitely worth visiting. The Minoan Palace of Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are must-see places while in Heraklion, as are the award-winning traditional village of Archanes and Myrtia Village, the birthplace of Nikos Kazantzakis, where the museum dedicated to the world-famous writer is located.

The colourful architectural gem of Crete

Rethymnon Region is home to countless unspoiled villages, towns, beaches, monasteries and archaeological sites. Traditional and colourful, Rethymnon is one of the most beautiful historical towns of Crete, where you can see some of the most important buildings and monuments of the island. Its fabulous castle, Venetian houses, cobblestone streets and fountains are some of the town's trademarks. Enjoy your coffee at one of the historic centre's many little lounges and cafés, looking at people passing by.
To explore some of its unique attractions, head to Preveli Palm Beach and the historical monasteries of Preveli and Arkadi.

Exotic sandy beaches and stunning gorges

Chania boasts some of Crete's most spectacular beaches, such as Balos, Falasarna, Elafonisi and Kedrodasos. The world-famous Samaria Gorge is also located in Chania Region, making it ideal for those who love to explore nature and discover its best gifts. The old town of Chania takes visitors by surprise with its fascinating blend of architecture and glorious history. Take a walk in the aristocratic neighbours of Halepa, Tabakaria, Kum Kapi and Neoria. Don't leave before you experience its vibrant nightlife at one of the many bars and restaurants along the promenade.

Spinalonga memories and tranquillity

Lasithi Region lies on the east side of Crete, and Agios Nikolaos is its centre. Elounda is known for its beautiful landscape and peaceful ambience. The island of Spinalonga, situated at the heart of Mirabello Bay, symbolises both the earlier and more recent history of Crete.
Plaka Village is one of the most picturesque seaside settlements, with incredible views of Spinalonga. Schisma Elounda, with its many elegant shops and restaurants along the beautiful little marina with colourful traditional boats, is ideal for a day tour you can organise from our resort in Hersonissos. If you love nature, a visit to Lasithi Plateau and a walk in the traditional village of Margarites are highly recommended.

Palm forests and pristine landscapes

The old town of Ierapetra is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of touristic places. Visit this historic town to experience some of Crete's most unspoiled landscapes and monuments, such as Kazarma Fortress, the Fortress of Kales and the little picturesque harbour.
The white sandy beach of Vai, surrounded by a magnificent palm forest, is a perfect swimming spot and an ideal place to disconnect.
